New Year brings new Driving law for pocket bikes

Another driving-related law that AAA is publicizing is the outlawing of pocket bikes. Rep. John Benoit (R-Palm Desert) wrote AB 1051, which makes it illegal to ride the two-stroke engine motorcycles on highways, sidewalks or bike trails.

With every new year comes the enactment of fresh laws.

Last year, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed 729 bills into laws, most of which went into effect Jan. 1. Although this is the fewest new bills in a year since 1967, these new laws affect everyone from teenage drivers to animals.
